The study of relevance mechanisms of inflammatory bowel disease and some metabolic diseases
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic inflammatory disease. In recent years, many evidences indicated that IBD caused increased incidence rate of obesity, increased risk of kidney stones, provoked hypertension, and induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Moreover, the prevalence rate of IBD in patients of diabetes significantly increased. There is a paucity of national and international literature on the mechanisms by which IBD and metabolic diseases interact. IBD and metabolic diseases share common pathological characteristics, and IBD contributes to the development of metabolic diseases through its own pathogenesis, while metabolic diseases are also involved in the onset of IBD.This review focuses on the mechanisms of interaction between IBD and metabolic disease in terms of cytokines, intestinal microorganisms, and therapy, and introduces the knowledge of emerging complications of IBD to provide clinicians with a more comprehensive understanding of the correlation and therapy between IBD and metabolic disease in their work.
