This study uses the CFPS 2016‐2022 panel data and a panel fixed-effects probit model to investigate how Internet use affects rural land transfer in China, and the mechanism and heterogeneity were also analyzed. The key findings are: 1) Internet use significantly promotes land inflows but has no clear effect on land outflows; 2) The result of mechanism analyses discovered that the internet use promoted rural mainly through information access, social interaction, and non-agricultural employment; 3) Heterogeneity analysis revealed that the effect was stronger among younger, better-educated farmers, and in economically developed eastern regions; 4) Internet use also facilitated simultaneous land inflows and outflows. In conclusion, improving rural Internet infrastructure and promoting digital inclusion can support the market-oriented development of land transfer.
