Similar to other disciplines, there are many diseases have no effective treatment in ophthalmology, so we need promote the clinical applications of basic scientific research. Recently, many translational researches in ophthalmology have gained great achievement, and provided great examples for other subjects, including studies on treatment of angiogenesis by anti-VEGF drugs and degenerative blinding diseases by stem cell and neurotrophic factors, study on gene therapy of Leber congenital amaurosis and artificial vision research, etc.
