The adsorbent of CP[5]-PVA was prepared by esterification of carboxyl pillar[5]arene and polyvinyl alcohol. It has a fast and efficient adsorption effect on congo red (CR) dye and neutral red (NR) dye, respectively. The adsorption efficiency of CR reached 96.85% in 30 min, and the adsorption efficiency of NR reached 99.92% in 45 min. The adsorption process of CP[5]-PVA on CR and NR dyes conformed to the quasi-second-order adsorption kinetic model and the Langmuir isothermal adsorption model, and the maximum adsorption capacity was 258.40 mg/g for CR and 125.16 mg/g for NR, respectively.
