To investigate the effects of different plant growth regulators on the growth and development of Chinese cabbage, in this study, three methods-petri dish, pot, and hydroponic culture-were used to study the germination and growth of Chinese cabbage seeds and seedlings. The effects of single application of the plant growth regulators N-acetyl-thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid and sodium o-methoxyphenol at different concentrations(5, 10, and 15 mg/L) on seed germination and growth and development, aiming to provide a reference for Chinese cabbage nursery cultivation and field sowing. The results showed that, compared with the control (γ-PGA), treatments with N-acetyl-thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (5 mg/L) and sodium o-methoxyphenol(10-15 mg/L) effectively promoted the seed germination and seedling growth of Chinese cabbage. Among these, N-acetyl-thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid performed best in improving germination rate and promoting root development. In contrast, sodium o-methoxyphenol resulted in the highest plant height at a concentration of 10 mg/L and the thickest leaves at 15 mg/L. Both treatments positively influenced enzyme activity, with some indicators outperforming the control group. A comprehensive comparison suggested that seed soaking with 5 mg/L of N-acetyl-thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid and foliar spraying with 10 mg/L of sodium o-methoxyphenol during the seedling stage was an appropriate method for seed germination and seedling culture of Chinese cabbage.
