The reserved flexible time in the train working diagram of high speed railways is relatively insufficient, which is easy to cause disturbance propagation during the train operation. At present, there is a lack of systematic analysis and research on train disturbance propagation conditions and corresponding blocking techniques. The computer simulation was used to analyze the train disturbance propagation under the conditions of different speed levels and block section lengths. The simulation results show that the disturbance caused by acceleration during train departure has a great impact on the departure of the following train. The thresholds of triggering disturbance propagation vary with the block section length. Under the 3 min tracking interval, when disturbance propagation occurs, the cumulative additional running time of the front train generating disturbance is all greater than 20 s, which indicates that there is a remaining interval in the space and time between the front and following trains after the trains depart from the station and run into the section. According to the influence degree of disturbance, the measures and techniques for alleviating and blocking disturbance propagation are proposed, such as reserving space-time free zones, optimizing vehicle performance, and promoting automatic driving.
