In this study, the mechanism of vegetation on slope scouring protection was explored by combining numerical simulation and macroscopic experiments. Firstly, an artificial test bench was built to conduct practical tests on the slope with or without vegetation cover. Subsequently, numerical simulations were used to simulate the slope scouring process under different vegetation conditions. The experiment results showed that the vegetation could effectively protect the slope, reduce the scouring rate, and the protection effect had strong adaptability, and the simulation results were consistent with the change law and trend of the experimental results, which verified the reliability of the numerical simulation results. The results further showed that vegetation had an important impact on slope stability under different scouring durations. It was verified that the vegetation can improve the stability of the slope through the synergistic effect of leaves, stems and roots through numerical simulation and experimental analysis.
