The aim of this study is to clarify the effect and mechanism of information mismatch on farmers’ production efficiency, and how to weaken the impact of information mismatch on farmers’ production efficiency is discussed. A total of 760 vegetable growers in Shouguang, Shandong Province were taken as samples, and the impact of information mismatch on farmers’ production efficiency was empirically analyzed by using information supply and demand matching model, hierarchical regression model, and simple slope analysis. The results show that:1)The problem of information mismatch is common in rural areas, and it has a significant negative impact on the production efficiency of rural households. The results also passed the endogeneity test and robustness test. 2) Information mismatch indirectly affects farmers’ production efficiency through factor allocation, transaction cost and bargaining power, and the indirect effect is greater than the direct effect. 3) Considering the moderating effects of technology input, government support and social networks, the results show that strong government support and social networks can alleviate the negative impact of information mismatch on farmers' production efficiency. Therefore, it is necessary to give full play to the support and guidance role of the government to eliminate information mismatch, and it is urgent to introduce market forces to establish a diversified information supply platform, optimize the allocation of factors, reduce transaction costs, and improve bargaining power,so as to improve the production efficiency of rural households.
