How digital capability affects the consumption of agricultural products with Three-Products Certification by farmers: Evidence from CRRS 2020 survey data
To investigate the impact of digital capability on the consumption of agricultural products with Three-Products Certification by farmers, based on the CRRS farmer survey data of 2020, the Probit model is used to examine the relationship and mechanisms between the them. The research findings show that: 1) Digital capability has a significant promoting effect on the consumption of agricultural products with Three-Products Certification by farmers. 2) Mechanism analysis indicates that digital capability promotes the consumption of agricultural products with Three-Products Certification by farmers through enhancing farmers’ cognition and health literacy. 3) Heterogeneity analysis indicates that digital capability has a more significant promoting effect on the consumption of agricultural products with Three-Products Certification by farmers in the central and western regions, but have no significant impact on the consumption of agricultural products with Three-Products Certification by farmers in the eastern region. In addition, compared with the high-income and elderly farmers, digital capability has a greater promoting effect on the consumption of agricultural products with Three-Products Certification by the low-income and young farmers. Based on this, this study puts forward corresponding suggestions from three aspects: steadily promoting the digitalization of agriculture and rural areas, continuously enhancing the digital capabilities of farmers, and accelerating the upgrading of farmers’ food consumption.
