The photothermal therapy (PTT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been developed recently as a promising way to treat cancer. Graphene oxide (GO) has been used as photothermal therapy due to its photothermal activity and fullerene (C60) has been used as photosensitizer for PDT. Combing both GO and C60 in one nanoplatform can present PTT and PDT effects. In this paper, a water soluble C60-Py-GO nanosystem was prepared by a simple way via noncovalent π-π interaction between the C60-pyrenen (C60-Py) and PEG-GO. Experimental results show that the C60-Py-GO nanosystem exhibits combining photothermal and photodynamic effects and leading to the viability of human cervical cancer cell (Hela cell) decreased to 20.7% upon 808 nm laser and visible light.
