Photothermocatalytic Fischer-Tropsch synthesis provides an energy-efficient and sustainable process for the synthesis of lower olefins. Iron-based catalysts are widely used in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis for lower olefins production due to their low cost and wide source. Among the iron-based catalysts, Fe5C2 exhibits high selectivity towards lower olefins but requires a higher reaction temperature, while the metallic iron catalyst can catalyze Fischer-Tropsch synthesis at a lower temperature compared with Fe5C2. In this work, Fe/Fe5C2 composite catalyst was prepared and the proportion of Fe and Fe5C2 was optimized. Thus, under light irradiation, the photothermocatalytic Fischer-Tropsch synthesis can be operated at reaction temperature as low as 250 ℃; an optimized catalyst exhibits the high selectivity of 54.4% for lower olefins at the CO conversion of 22.3%.
