After the instability of high-position landslides, long-distance debris flows are easily formed, which accumulate and converge within the gully, subsequently inducing secondary disasters such as debris flows, posing a serious threat to the safety of life and property of downstream residents. To assess the hazard of the landslide deposit transforming into a debris flow in Jinping Village, Mu'ai Town, Junlian County, Sichuan Province, field geological exploration, engineering geological analysis and numerical simulations were carried out. Results show: 1) The study area has abundant rainfall and concentrated flood season, and the longitudinal slope of the ditch section above the landslide accumulation body is relatively large, which has the potential energy conditions for the formation of debris flows. The accumulation body is mainly composed of loose gravel soil, with poor stability, and is prone to instability and entering the ditch under heavy rainfall; 2) the susceptibility of debris flow in Jinping Village is moderate, mainly develops as dilute debris flows, and the scale is small when initially triggered by the Jinjiagou watershed. During its movement, it is continuously replenished by the water source of Gaobanggou on the right side, and under extreme conditions, it can expand to medium-large scale; 3) at the 1% rainfall frequency (100-year return period rainfall), the debris flow may travel up to 1.066 km, with a maximum volume of 8.61×10⁴ m³, threatening 18 households (106 people) in Group 1 of Jinping Village. The research can provide data support and theoretical reference for the precise prevention and control of debris flows in Jinping Village, as well as for the design of disaster prevention and mitigation projects.
