Abstract

Primary angle‑closure glaucoma (PACG) is an irreversible multi‑factor optic nerve disease that causes blindness, and it is related to acute or chronic intraocular pressure elevation caused by angle closure. Its pathogenesis is complex and involves many factors. The choroid has a rich vascular network, which is the main source of blood supply to the retinal nerve and plays an important role in regulating the optic nerve. In recent years, the theory of choroidal vasodilation in the pathogenesis of PACG has gradually attracted clinical attention. This paper reviews the current status of PACG and the related mechanisms of choroidal vascular factors in the pathogenesis of PACG, and discussed the treatment strategies and application prospects of choroidal vessel factor, in order to provide new insights for the clinical prevention and treatment of PACG.
