Melamine, dodecylamine, ethylenediamine, 1,4-butylenediamine, 1,6-hexamediamine,N, N-dimethyl-1,3-propylenethane were used as raw materials. Three kinds of triazinyl Gemini surfactants C12-m-C12 (m=2,4,6) were synthesized (m=2,4,6). The structures were characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR and ESI-MS. The surface activity of the different linked methyl-triazinyl Gemini surfactants was determined by surface tension method, steady-state fluorescence method and dynamic light scattering method. The results of surface tension test show that the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of C12-m-C12 increases from 0.013 mmol/L to 0.050 mmol/L as the number of connected methylenes increases from 2 to 6. Through dynamic light scattering method, it is concluded that the particle size of C12-m-C12 increases with the increase of bonding group length. It can be seen from the results of steady state fluorescence method that the surfactant is more likely to form larger micelles with the increase of the length of the linking group. The critical micelle aggregation numbers of C12-2-C12, C12-4-C12 and C12-6-C12 in aqueous solution are 105, 76 and 68, respectively.
