Voltage regulation is the main method for turning behavior in rats. However, constant voltage sources cannot automatically adapt to the changes of brain impedance, resulting in the unstable stimulation effects and limiting practical application. The constant current source stimulation module that ensures output current remains stable despite changes in brain impedance was developed in this study. It was also featured with both positive and negative outputs, which could minimize the charge accumulation in the rat brain. The manipulation of turning behaviors of the rat in ventral posterolateral nucleus (VPL) and ventral posteromedial nucleus (VPM) regions were investigated using constant current source. It was found that the stimulation of the VPL region resulted in pronounced head turn, while the stimulation of the VPM region resulted in pronounced body deviation. In terms of turning angle, the minimum turning angle of VPL rats was significantly higher than that of VPM rats, with an average difference of +18°. The maximum turning angle of VPM rats was significantly higher than that of VPL rats, with an average difference of +16°.
