The impact of various manufacturing errors on the meshing performance of planetary roller screw mechanisms (PRSM) is investigated systematically. Based on the standard PRSM meshing model, an analytical model incorporating six types of manufacturing errors—pitch error, flank angle error, pitch diameter error, thread indexing error, gear phase error, and thread eccentricity error—is established. Theoretical derivations and numerical calculations are used to analyze how these errors affect the meshing radius, meshing angle, and axial clearance of screw-roller and nut-roller pairs. The results demonstrate that thread geometry errors (e.g., pitch, flank angle, and pitch diameter) significantly alter the meshing position and clearance, potentially leading to interference. Furthermore, the thread indexing error, which is equivalent to a flank angle deviation, markedly affects the meshing characteristics, including the meshing radius and axial clearance. The gear phase error primarily affects the meshing angle, with minimal impact on axial. Additionally, thread eccentricity errors induce a displacement of the meshing point by altering the center distance. This research provides a theoretical foundation for the precision design and tolerance allocation of PRSMs.
