Abstract

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a hematologic malignancy prevalent among the elderly. The frailty presents a considerable obstacle to the prognosis of MM patients. Frailty is associated not only with the age of MM patients and the adverse effects of treatment but also with alterations in body composition, particularly the loss of muscle mass and a diminished phase angle. This article evaluates the assessment methods and the correlation between frailty and body composition characteristics in MM patients, examines the influence of these factors on patient prognosis, and aims to formulate more personalized treatment strategies to enhance the quality of life and outcomes for individuals with MM.
