Thinking about the large-scale infrastructure construction of translational medicine

With the development of translational medicine worldwide, more and more translational medicine centers (TMCs) were established in our country. However, most of the TMCs are scattered all over the country, therefore a close collaboration among these centers is difficult to achieve. Effective management and thorough planning are the urgent needs in national level for standardized development. The State Council issued ‘Outline of the National Program for Long- and Medium-Term Major Scientific and Technological Infrastructure Construction (2012—2013)’ provided a guidance for the translational medicine development in our country. To follow and implement this guideline is the responsibility of the researchers in the field of translational medicine. The authors based on their work experience of Translational Medical Center of Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, discussed the plan and strategy to implement the constructions of translational medicine system in China. We look forward to making contribution to the development of translational medicine in China together with all researchers.
