Speg. Walker。

Abstract

Ophiognomonia (Sacc.) Speg. mainly includes foliar saprobes and pathogens, and most species inhabit trees and shrubs. Based on multi-gene molecular phylogenetic analysis, combined with host and geographic distribution characteristics, this study divided the genus into eight sections: Section Alni-viridis, Section Gei-montani, Section Gunmensis, Section Ischnostyla, Section Melanostyla, Section Micromegala, Section Rosae, and Section Setacea. In addition, two strains of Ophiognomonia were isolated from the fallen leaves of Castanea mollissima Blume and C. henryi (Skan) Rehder & E. H. Wilson, and were identified by morphological and molecular analyses. These strains were identified as O. kobayashii D.M. Walker. This species represents a new record in China, and C. mollissima and C. henryi are new host records for this fungus. This study also supplemented the anamorphic morphological description of this species, further improving its species delimitation. This study clarifies the current research status of the genus and lays a theoretical foundation for the taxonomy of Gnomoniaceae and related plant disease research.
