Hydrogeology, the discipline studying groundwater dynamics and flow patterns in nature, significantly impacts geological hazards in China with high occurrence frequency. Many disasters are caused by hydrogeological factors. Rock engineering construction is a complex task requiring not only solid foundations, stable structures, and proper slope management, but also consideration of groundwater movement patterns. These factors profoundly influence project design and implementation. Therefore, governments at all levels should prioritize development in this field. This paper explores challenges in geotechnical engineering survey, design, and construction, proposing practical solutions to support successful project execution.
