The Yangtze River Basin possesses abundant intangible cultural heritage (ICH) resources. Investigating its spatial distribution patterns and influencing factors is of great significance to regional cultural preservation and inheritance. Drawing on 1 250 national-level ICH items across 11 provinces (autonomous regions/municipalities) in the Yangtze River Basin, this study employed GIS spatial analysis and the geodetector method to explore spatial distribution characteristics and their determinants. Key findings are as follows. 1) The ICH exhibited a core-periphery structure featuring a dominant cluster in the Yangtze River Delta, sub-clusters in the middle and upper reaches, and axial distribution along the river basin, with moderately uneven provincial distribution (Gini coefficient = 0.18). 2) Marked categorical disparities exist among ICH types, with traditional skills, drama, music, and dance accounting for 60.56% of the total, each demonstrating distinct spatial distribution patterns. 3) Museum density (q=0.82), 3A-level and above scenic spots (q=0.80), and national-level ICH inheritors (q=0.74) were core driving factors, with GDP (q=0.51) as an auxiliary factor. The interactive effects among these factors, particularly between museums and traditional villages (q=0.99), museums and inheritors (q=0.99), and scenic spots and traditional villages (q=0.97), significantly reinforce ICH agglomeration. 4) Distinct regional disparities were observed: the lower reaches show comprehensive high-density agglomeration driven by the synergy of economy, cultural tourism, and infrastructure; the middle reaches exhibit continuous agglomeration featuring the integration of cultural tourism and traditional villages; while the upper reaches demonstrate scattered distribution constrained by natural conditions, relying on economic hubs and characteristic cultural tourism. These findings provide scientific references for systematic conservation planning and policy-making in the Yangtze River Basin.
