ChatGPT辅助BOPPPS教学方法在留学生神经外科见习教学中的应用

ChatGPT辅助BOPPPS教学方法在留学生神经外科见习教学中的应用
Application of ChatGPT-assisted BOPPPS teaching mode in clinical internship of Neurosurgery for international students
目的 本研究将ChatGPT(chat generative pre-trained transformer,ChatGPT)辅助BOPPPS教学方法运用于留学生神经外科临床见习教学中,旨在探索将人工智能(artificial intelligence,AI)技术应用于留学生医学教育的可行性。 方法 将115 名临床医学本科留学生分为试验组(58 名)和对照组(57 名),试验组采用ChatGPT辅助BOPPPS教学方法,对照组采用传统教学方法,通过问卷调查了解学生对ChatGPT的使用情况;通过理论考核、课堂参与度及教学满意度评价进行教学效果评估。 结果 共收到有效问卷105 份,所有学生(100%)均表示知道ChatGPT;83 名学生(79.05%)使用过ChatGPT;54 名学生(51.43%)使用过ChatGPT解决学术问题;试验组理论考核平均成绩为(92.57±4.46)分,对照组为(87.91±6.81)分;试验组学生共提问37 次,小组发言29 次,主动回答问题25 次;对照组学生共提问13 次,小组发言13 次,主动回答问题11 次;试验组中43 名学生(74.14%)对教学效果非常满意,15 名学生(25.86%)对教学效果比较满意;对照组中21 名学生(36.84%)对教学效果非常满意,36 名学生(63.16%)对教学效果比较满意。以上结果两组比较差异均具有统计学意义(均P<0.05)。 结论 ChatGPT辅助BOPPPS教学方法能够明显提升本科留学生临床见习的教学效果和学生的学习体验。以ChatGPT为代表的AI技术可作为一种有力的辅助手段在留学生医学教育中发挥重要作用。
Objective To apply ChatGPT (chat generative pre-trained transformer )-assisted BOPPPS teaching mode in clinical internship of Neurosurgery for international students, with the goal of exploring the feasibility of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technology into medical education reform for these students. Methods 115 bachelor of medicine & bachelor of surgery (MBBS) international students were divided into the experimental group (58 students) and the control group (57 students). The experimental group employed the ChatGPT-assisted BOPPPS teaching mode, while the control group utilized traditional teaching mode. A survey was conducted to assess students’ usage of ChatGPT, and the teaching effectiveness was evaluated through assessments of theoretical knowledge and clinical reasoning, classroom participation, and overall teaching satisfaction. Results A total of 105 valid questionnaires were collected, with all respondents (100%) indicating the understanding of ChatGPT. 83 students (79.05%) reported having used ChatGPT, and 54 students (51.43%) utilized ChatGPT to address academic problems. The average score for theoretical knowledge and clinical reasoning assessments in the experimental group was (92.57±4.46), compared to (87.91±6.81) in the control group. In terms of classroom participation, the experimental group asked questions 37 times, participated in group discussions 29 times, and actively answered questions 25 times. In comparison, the control group asked questions 13 times, participated in group discussions 13 times, and actively answered questions 11 times. Regarding teaching satisfaction, 43 students (74.14%) in the experimental group reported being very satisfied with the teaching effectiveness, while 15 students (25.86%) expressed moderate satisfaction. In the control group, 21 students (36.84%) were very satisfied, and 36 students (63.16%) were moderately satisfied. The above results showed statistically significant differences between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion The ChatGPT-assisted BOPPPS teaching mode significantly enhances the teaching effectiveness and students’ learning experience in clinical internship of Neurosurgery for international students. AI technology, represented by ChatGPT, can serve as a powerful supplementary tool in the education of international medical students.
