多模态影像+AI的PMDS融合课程在本科生眼科学教学中的应用
Application of the PMDS integrated curriculum based on multimodal imaging+AI in Ophthalmology education for undergraduates
目的 探究多模态影像与人工智能(AI)的PMDS融合课程在本科生眼科学教育中的应用价值。 方法 选取西安交通大学第一附属医院79名临床医学本科生,按班级随机分为试验组(采用PMDS融合课程,n=40)和对照组(采用传统教学,n=39)。依托“多模态影像融合病例库”联合AIforEye人工智能(AI)及秘塔AI平台,开展PMDS教学实践,并从理论考核、操作考核及学生满意度三个方面评估教学效果。 结果 两组学生在理论考核总分上未显示出差异[(76±8)vs.(75±10),P=0.589],试验组无不及格者,而对照组有2人(5.0%)不及格。病例分析题(考察综合分析与临床应用能力)结果显示,试验组得分高于对照组[26(25,27)vs.23(23,26),P=0.008],提示PMDS教学模式更有助于培养学生解决实际临床问题的能力,在信息整合、逻辑推理与诊断思路构建方面具有优势。试验组学生在小组病例讨论(操作考核)中的得分高于对照组[47(45,49)vs.43(41,48),P=0.007]。学生满意度调查显示,试验组在多个维度评价高于对照组,尤其在趣味性[23(21,25)vs.22(20,24),P=0.043]和实际收获[23(22,25)vs.22(19,23),P=0.003]两个维度上优于对照组。 结论 多模态影像联合AI的PMDS融合课程教学模式通过闭环病例训练的创新教学方法,有助于提升医学生的眼科临床综合能力(突出表现为临床问题解决能力提升)与学习体验,为破解眼底病教学中的影像分析瓶颈提供新思路。
Objective To evaluate the application value of a problem-oriented multi-dimensional skill integration (PMDS) curriculum based on multimodal imaging and artificial intelligence (AI) in Ophthalmology education for undergraduates. Methods A total of 79 undergraduates majoring in Clinical Medicine from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University were enrolled and randomly assigned by class to the experimental group (PMDS-integrated curriculum, n=40) and the control group (traditional teaching, n=39). The PMDS teaching was implemented using a Multimodal Imaging Integrated Case Database alongside the AIforEye and MetaAI platforms. The teaching efficacy was assessed through theoretical examination (including case analysis questions), practical skills assessment (group case discussions), and student satisfaction surveys. Results No statistically significant difference was observed in theoretical examination scores between the two groups [(76±8) vs. (75±10), P=0.589]. No student failed in the experimental group, whereas two students failed in the control group. Analysis of case-based questions (assessing comprehensive analysis and clinical application abilities) revealed significantly higher scores in the experimental group [26 (25, 27) vs. 23 (23, 26), P=0.008], indicating the PMDS model’s superiority in cultivating clinical problem-solving abilities through enhanced information integration, logical reasoning, and diagnostic thinking. The experimental group also achieved higher practical assessment scores in group case discussions [47 (45, 49) vs. 43 (41, 48), P=0.007]. Satisfaction surveys demonstrated significantly better evaluations of the experimental group across multiple dimensions, particularly in engagement [23 (21, 25) vs. 22 (20, 24), P=0.043] and perceived learning gains [23 (22, 25) vs. 22 (19, 23), P=0.003]. Conclusion The PMDS-integrated teaching mode based on multimodal imaging and AI improves medical students’ comprehensive ophthalmic clinical competencies (notably in problem-solving) and learning experience through innovative closed-loop case-based training, offering a novel strategy to address image analysis challenges in fundus diseases education.
