Under the background of “carbon peak and carbon neutrality”, whether photovoltaic(PV) enterprises can realize digital transformation is related to the industry’s degree of cost reduction and efficiency, green and low-carbon and high-quality development. The article is based on the data of PV enterprises listed in Shanghai and Shenzhen A-shares from 2011 to 2022, the impact of digital transformation on the green innovation performance of PV enterpries companies is empirically tested. The study found that: ① digital transformation significantly improves the green innovation performance of PV enterpries; ② in terms of the mechanism of action, digital transformation enhances the green innovation performance of PV firms by increasing their total factor productivity, which in turn enhances the green innovation performance of PV enterpries; internal control as a moderating variable not only directly promotes the green innovation performance of PV enterpries but also positively moderates the impact of digital transformation on green innovation performance; ③ heterogeneity analyses show that the impact of digital transformation on the green innovation performance of PV enterpries is significantly differentiated by the nature of property rights, and the impact effect of state-owned firms is more significant compared to non-state-owned firms.
